How to Use

  • Wash & Soak: Rinse Mappillai Samba Rice 2–3 times with clean water. Soak for 6–8 hours (or overnight) to soften the grains, reduce cooking time, and achieve the best texture.
  • Cook: Use 1 cup of rice with 4 cups of water.
  • Pressure Cooker: Cook for 6–7 whistles and allow the pressure to release naturally.
  • Open Pot: Simmer over medium heat until the grains become tender while retaining their characteristic chewy texture. Drain excess water if required.
  • Best Ways to Enjoy: Mappillai Samba Rice is perfect for everyday steamed rice, traditional South Indian meals, kanji, pazhaya sadham (fermented rice), and rice bowls. It is also an excellent choice for preparing idli batter, dosa batter, puttu, kozhukattai, and rice flour for traditional recipes. Its robust texture pairs wonderfully with sambar, rasam, kuzhambu, kootu, vegetable curries, and traditional gravies.
